Durban Knife Sharpening: Comprehensive Terms and Conditions

 

Welcome to Durban Knife Sharpening. By purchasing our services, vouchers, or engaging us for work (the “Services”), you agree to the following terms and conditions.

 

1. Release and Waiver of Liability

 

The Client hereby releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue the Provider (Durban Knife Sharpening) from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages arising from or connected with:

Damage to Items: Any loss, damage, or destruction to the Items resulting from the provision of the Services, save and except for damage arising from gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the Provider. Our liability for accidental damage is strictly limited to the cost of the service provided.

Injury or Harm: Any injury, death, loss, or harm resulting directly or indirectly from the subsequent use, handling, storage, or transport of the Items after they have been returned to the Client. The safe use, handling, and storage of sharpened knives are the sole responsibility of the Client.

 

2. Specific Item Disclaimers and Limitations

 

The Client acknowledges the following specific limitations and risks associated with certain materials:

Ceramic Knives: Ceramic blades are extremely brittle. Sharpening carries an increased risk of chipping or cracking the blade. The Provider offers no guarantee against such damage and liability for ceramic blades is explicitly waived.

Carbon Steel and Patina: Carbon steel knives may show immediate or delayed colour changes (patina) after sharpening due to exposure to water or oils. This is a natural process and is not considered damage.

Pre-Existing Condition: The Provider is not responsible for damage arising from pre-existing structural flaws, loose handles, or corrosion that may become apparent during or after the sharpening process.

 

3. Pilot Launch Voucher Terms (Pre-Order)

 

Purpose: Funds generated from the sale of these vouchers are specifically allocated towards the purchase of the BlitzBlade Sharpening Machine.

Redemption: Vouchers are marked as PRE-ORDER and are only redeemable once the Pilot Launch goal (full funding for the machine) is reached.

Refunds (Pilot): Refunds will only be processed if the funding goal is not met within six months of the voucher purchase date.

 

4. Payment, Collection, and Abandonment

 

Payment: All Items will only be released to the Client upon receipt of full payment for the Services rendered.

Inspection and Acceptance: The Client is required to inspect all Items for any visible defects or damage immediately upon collection/delivery. Collection of the Items constitutes acceptance of the Services and condition of the Items.

Abandonment: Items not collected or delivered within ninety (90) calendar days of job completion notification will be considered abandoned property. The Provider reserves the right to dispose of the Items or sell them to recover costs.

 

5. Collection, Delivery, and Courier Service

 

Core Zone: Free collection and delivery is currently limited to the Westville area ("Core Zone").

Courier Service: For services outside the Core Zone, a third-party courier service integrated with Portmoni is available. The Client assumes liability for loss or damage during transit unless specific, higher-level insurance is arranged by the Client prior to shipping.

Turnaround Time: Standard service turnaround time is 3-5 business days from the date of collection at our facility, subject to current workload.
